SERIES HISTORY: The Tigers face a tough test as they open Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play at James Madison Sunday. The Dukes lead the all-time series with the Tigers, 34-3 after sweeping the season series last year. The Tigers will be looking for their first ever win in the series in Harrisonburg.
IN CAA OPENERS: Towson won its first CAA opener under Head Coach
Niki Reid Geckeler last year at Hofstra. Overall the Tigers are 7-6 in CAA openers since they joined the conference for the 2000-01 season.
SEEING DOUBLE: Redshirt senior forward
LaTorri Hines-Allen led the Tigers with 16 points against George Washington. It was the seventh straight game she has scored in double figures and the 11th time this season. Hines-Allen has scored in double figures 40 times in her career.
I'LLL TAKE THAT: The Tigers recorded nine steals in the game against George Washington. Seven Tigers recorded at least one steal in the game. That group was led by freshman center
Daijha Thomas and redshirt senior forward
LaTorri Hines-Allen who had two each. It was the fifth time in 12 games this season that Towson has recorded nine or more steals in a game. The Tigers rank seventh in the CAA while averaging 6.8 steals per game.
BLOCK PARTY: Towson recorded four blocks for the second straight game on Wednesday against George Washington. Freshman center
Daijha Thomas led the Tigers with two blocks in that contest. As a team the Tigers have recorded four or more blocks in half of their games this season. Towson had a season-high 11 blocks in the win over Loyola in December. The Tigers rank fourth in the CAA in blocked shots and are averaging 4.0 per game.
LEADERS OF THE PACK: Sunday's game matches two of the top three scorers in the CAA and two of the top three rebounders in the league. Towson's
LaTorri Hines-Allen currently ranks third in the league in scoring (18.6 ppg) and third in rebounding (9.9 rpg). Hines-Allen gets the chance to match-up against James Madison's
Precious Hall (scoring leader 23.5 ppg) and
Lauren Okafor (rebounding leader 11.4 rpg).
