The Series: William & MaryLong-time fans of the Towson women's soccer program will no doubt remember last year's 2-0 win over William & Mary at the Tiger Soccer Complex. That victory was the first for the Tigers over the Tribe in the 13 meetings between the programs. Towson and the Tribe have squared off once every season since the Tigers joined the CAA in 2002. The Tigers will be looking for their second-straight win over the visiting Tribe in program history.
The Series: ElonThe all-time history between Towson and the Phoenix is not a long one; the two teams met for the first time last season, resulting in a 2-0 Tiger win at home. The since-graduated
Katie Ponce ripped a shot from just outside the 18-yard box, getting the game-winning assist from current junior Caitlin Oswald.
Morgan Fraczkowski tacked on an insurance goal with
Gabby Scirica on the helper.
Piling Up the MinutesWith just two games left in the regular season, no player in the CAA has spent more time on the pitch than Towson senior
Vasthy Delgado. The Arlington, Virginia native has piled up 1,653 minutes this season, nearly 20 minutes clear of UNCW's keeper, Carolyn Huddy (1,637). Delgado had played every minute of the season for the Tigers until Sunday's game at UNCW, subbing off for the first time this year in the 36
th minute.
Twelve players in the conference have logged over 1,500 minutes this season, and three of them are Tigers. Delgado leads the conference, followed closely by keeper
Taylor Sebolao (1,579) and backliner
Nicole Nicholas (1,564). Towson and UNCW are the only two teams in the conference with more than one player to have logged over 1,500 minutes.
So You're Saying There's a ChanceMathematically, the Tigers are still alive for one of the six spots available in the CAA Tournament. Towson will need to win both games this weekend and get help elsewhere to make the postseason. The Conference office will announce full playoff scenarios on Saturday following Friday's contests.
Don't Say the O WordEvery team loves playing on its home field, none more so than the 2015 Towson Tigers. This season, the Tigers have played a program-record seven games that have required extra time, five of which have been at the Tiger Soccer Complex. Towson put in 619 minutes of work at home this season, 80 of which have been beyond regulation.
