Tigers Face the Golden Gophers Sunday Night

WELCOME TO THE LAND OF 1,000 LAKES: The Tiger women's basketbal team has headed west to take on the University of Minnesota on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. Links to live stats and video can be found on the schedule page on TowsonTigers.com. Fans can also follow the Tigers on Twitter (@Towson_WBB) for updates.

SERIES HISTORY: Towson will face Minnesota for the first time ever Sunday evening.

IT'S NICE TO MEET YOU: Sunday's game is the fourth of five straight for the Tigers against teams that they have never faced before this season. The Tigers are no strangers to facing teams from the Big Ten however. Towson will be playing its 32nd game against a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Tigers have faced Maryland, Northwestern, Purdue, Rutgers and Penn State before. Towson has never faced Big Ten members - Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State or Wisconsin.

REACHING THE CENTURY MARK: Towson freshman guard Sianni Martin led the Tigers with 18 points on Wednesday night at Cornell. That point total pushed Martin's season total to 107 points. Martin is the first Tiger freshman since Shanae Baker-Brice during the 2006-07 season to score 100 points in her first seven games.

LOGGING MANY MILES: When the Tigers take the court against the Golden Gophers, they will have played games in three different states in the last week. Towson will have logged 4,336 miles, traveling to Jacksonville, Fla. for the North Florida Tournament, Ithaca, N.Y. to face Cornell and Minneapolis, Minn. to face the Golden Gophers.

DON'T I KNOW YOU: When Towson assistant coach Christie Rogers looks at the Minnesota bench, she'll see a familiar face in Minnesota head coach Marlena Stollings. Rogers served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Stollings during the 2011-12 season at Winthrop.

WELCOME TO THE BLOCK PARTY: Towson sophomore center Daijha Thomas made her presence felt under the basket on Wednesday night at Cornell. Thomas swatted away a career-high five shots. She is the first Tiger to block five shots in a game since LaTorri Hines-Allen recorded five blocks on Jan. 9 of last year against Delaware.

UP NEXT: Following Sunday's game, the Tigers will take 13 days off for finals. Towson returns to action on Sunday, Dec. 20 when it hosts Auburn at 2 p.m. in the first game of a doubleheader with the Tiger men's team.
