TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team returns to action this weekend as it travels to East Carolina University for a three-game tournament that features five teams. The Tigers will open play against East Tennessee State on Friday, Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. before facing Marshall at 12:30 p.m. Towson wraps up the tournament on Saturday against the host Pirates at 4:30 p.m.

The Tigers were originally scheduled to face Bucknell on Saturday and play a second game against Marshall on Sunday before changes were made to the tournament due to weather. Towson will now play East Carolina instead of Bucknell while the second Marshall game has been cancelled.

Towson opened the 2015 season with a 3-0 showing at the Hampton Inn Invitational last weekend, tallying victories against Campbell, Youngstown State and St. John's.

The Tigers were led by freshman
Brook Miko who received Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week honors for her performance. Miko started at shortstop in all three of the Tigers' games; scoring four runs, recording six hits and seven RBIs over the weekend. She currently leads the Tigers in hits and RBIs, along with doubles (three) and at-bats (13).

Megan Dejter was impressive in her collegiate debut, posting a team-best 0.84 ERA in 8.1 innings pitched. She struck out a team-high seven batters and didn't give up a walk in two appearances.

East Tennessee enters this weekend with a 2-4 record. Sophomore infielder/pitcher
Taylor Carter has a 2.33 ERA and leads the Bucs' offensive efforts with four runs, eight hits and four runs batted in.

Marshall opened its season 5-0 with sophomore
Morgan Zekle outfielder leading the way for the Herd. Zekle has a team-high seven runs scored and eight hits. Sophomore pitcher
Jordan Dixon has a 0.31 ERA through 28.2 innings for the Herd and has allowed only 13 hits and three runs during that span.

East Carolina posted a 5-1 record after hosting the Pirate Classic to start its season. Sophomore first baseman
Ali Ramirez has scored just two runs but boasts a team-high nine RBIs. She leads the Pirates with a .500 batting average and has recorded seven hits. Senior pitcher
Sarah Christian has pitched two complete games and has a team-high 13 strikeouts along with a 0.60 ERA through 15.0 innings.

Towson will make its way to UNC Greensboro to play five games in the Spartan Classic between Feb. 20 and Feb. 22.
