Raymond and Donnelly Named to Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List

2015 Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List

TOWSON, Md.
– Towson University women's lacrosse seniors Andi Raymond and Kelsea Donnelly were named to the Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List on Thursday night at a ceremony in New York.

The Tewaaraton Trophy is presented annually to the top men's and women's player in the nation across all divisions. The watch lists released on Thursday night include 50 men's and 50 women's players. It is the first time the Tigers have had two players on the initial watch list. Raymond and Donnelly were among three Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) players named to the watch list. James Madison's Stephanie Finley was the third.

A redshirt senior attacker Raymond was named to the watch list for the first time in her career. She had a stellar 2014 season and played a key role in the Tigers capturing the CAA title and advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year. Raymond earned all-region honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) for the second time in her career. She was named the CAA Co-Player of the Year, after leading the Tigers with 76 points on 50 goals and 26 assists. She led the CAA in goals per game (2.63) and points per game (4.00) while finishing third in assists per game (1.37). Raymond was named the Most Outstanding Player of the CAA Tournament after finishing with six goals and two assists in the two games combined. She ranked eighth in assists, seventh in points and ninth in single-season goals at Towson. Raymond scored the game-winning goal three times in 2014, including in the CAA semifinals against Hofstra. She had 10 hat tricks on the year and finished third on the squad with 39 draw controls.

One of six goalkeepers on the list, Donnelly was named to the watch list for the second straight year. Donnelly earned all-region honors from the IWLCA for the first time in her career last spring. She was a key contributor between the pipes for the Tigers, earning first team All-CAA honors. A member of the CAA All-Tournament team, Donnelly finished the year with 157 saves. She posted double-digit saves in six games and held 11 opponents to single-digit goals while she was in net. Her 157 saves last season pushed her over 300 for her career, she is the 10th goalie in program history to record at least 300 saves. Donnelly made a career-high 14 saves in the win over Georgetown in late February. She led the CAA in saves per game all season and finished the year with 8.26 per game. Donnelly also finished second in the CAA with a 4.69 save percentage and third with a 9.39 goals against average. After her strong performance in 2014, Donnelly was invited to tryouts for the U.S. National Team this summer.

Players not named to the initial list have several opportunities to play their way into a spot as the season progresses. Watch lists additions, if applicable, will be announced on March 19 and April 9. On April 23, the field will be narrowed to 25 men's and 25 women's nominees. Nominees can be players on the watch lists or players not on the watch lists, effectively allowing for a third round of additions. Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced on May 7 and invited to the ceremony. The Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held in Washington, D.C., on May 28, 2015, at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian.

Raymond, Donnelly and the rest of the Tigers will open their 2015 season on Saturday, Feb. 28 when they visit Monmouth for a 12 p.m. game.
