TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team will travel to Florida to play seven games in six days from March 13-18
th. The Tigers are participating in the Michele Smith Spring Break Tournament hosted by the University of South Florida. They will play two separate games against Florida Gulf Coast University.

The Tigers will open the tournament against Central Connecticut State University on Friday, March 13 at 11:15 a.m. They will then face Canisius College at 1:45 p.m. On Saturday, the Tigers take on Western Michigan University at 1:45 p.m. before battling the host Bulls at 6:30 p.m. Towson will wrap up the tournament against Syracuse on Sunday at 11:15 a.m.

Towson will remain in the area to battle Florida Gulf Coast University in a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 18. The doubleheader will begin at 4 p.m. with the second game tentatively scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

Towson (6-3) has not played a game since February 27th due to inclement weather in the area. The Tigers split a pair of games against the University of Alabama Birmingham and Miami University of Ohio as part of the Citrus Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex.

Freshman shortstop
Brook Miko has been impressive for the Tigers so far this season. She leads the Tigers with nine RBIs and has hit a team-high five doubles. Miko also leads the Tigers in stolen bases with a perfect three-for-three steal attempts.

Sophomore catcher
Holiday Cahill has a team-high .429 batting average and also leads the team in on-base percentage (.467).

Senior outfielder/pitcher
Missy McCormick is having a strong senior showing, appearing in all nine games for the Tigers. She has earned three wins and pitched a complete game in the eighth-inning win over Bucknell. She leads the teams in hits with 10 and has recorded two home runs already this season.

Towson will return home to host James Madison University for a weekend series to open conference play. The Tigers and Dukes will battle in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 21 at 12 noon. The series will wrap up on Sunday, March 22 with a 1 p.m. game.
