Final ResultsWILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Sophomore
John Hulede fired a two-under-par 68, the second best round of his career, to lead the Towson men's golf team during the final day of play at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
Hulede now owns Towson's two lowest rounds this season as the sophomore started the year by carding a four-under-par 67 at the 2014 Navy Fall Classic.
As a team, Towson carded a 293 on Tuesday, the team's lowest round of the spring and fourth lowest round of the season. The Tigers moved up three spots in the team standings on the last day, finishing with a 54-hole total of 900 (302-305-293) to tie for 16th in the 30-team field.
"It was good to see an under par round from John and a better team score as well," said Towson Head Coach
Brian Yaniger. "It will now be important to carry that over as we host the Whiting Turner Towson Invitational this weekend. This remains a building process and we need to continually move forward."
Hulede (79-77-68=224) and junior
Ryan Siegler (76-73-75=224) were Towson's top individual finishes, tying for 60th in the 159-player field.
Senior
Sam Stewart (75-77-74=226) tied for 74th overall and sophomore
Juan Veloza (72-83-76=231) finished 96th.
Radford won the team title in a three-hole playoff over Loyola (Md.). Matt Oshrine of Loyola tied the tournament record with a 54-hole total of 208 (-2) to earn medalist honors.
Towson is back in action this weekend when the Tigers host the Whiting Turner Towson Invitational at Prospect Bay. The 22-team field will begin play on Saturday at 8 a.m.
