NORTH STONINGTON, Conn. – The Towson men's golf team cut two strokes off its first round score as play wrapped up at the Til Duty is Done Collegiate Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers, who shot 311 during the first round on Saturday, improved to a 309 during the final round of play on Sunday to finish in eighth among the 16-team field.
"Today's round was eerily similar to many we have played this year," said Towson Head Coach
Brian Yaniger. "We were right at even par and in the hunt through 12 holes. However, the big numbers reappeared the rest of the round. We have to eliminate the mental errors in order to become competitive in a tough CAA."
Sophomore
Juan Veloza fired a 74 during the second round to finish the tournament as Towson's top individual. Veloza carded a 153 (79-74) over two days to place in a tie for 18th in the 89-player field.
Junior
Ryan Siegler also shot 74 on Sunday and his 154 (80-74) placed him in a tie for 21st overall.
Hartford (295-292=587) outlasted host UConn (315-285=600) to win the team crown, while Hartford's Will Betts carded a six-under 138 (70-68) to earn medalist honors.
The Tigers will have one final tune-up before the Colonial Athletic Association Championship when they compete in the Yale Spring Invitational next weekend.
