TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team begins a nine-game home stand when it welcomes Delaware State and Georgetown to the newly renovated Tiger Softball Stadium for a pair of mid-week doubleheaders. The Tigers will battle the Hornets on Tuesday, April 7 with the first game scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Towson will then face the Hoyas at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8.

Towson improved to 15-16 overall and 2-7 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play after defeating CAA newcomer Elon twice this weekend. The Tigers won five of their six games this past week, including a doubleheader sweep of Norfolk State to open Tiger Softball Stadium.

The Tigers' offense came alive this past week, outscoring their opponents 31-14 and outhitting them 55-34. Freshman
Shelby Stracher smashed four of the Tigers' seven home runs during that period and scored a team-best eight runs.

Brook Miko paces the Tigers with a team-best 17 runs scored and 30 hits. She is tied with senior
Missy McCormick for the most RBIs (17) on the team. Sophomore
Holiday Cahill, who hit two home runs this past week, leads the Tigers in that category with seven homers. Cahill has a team-best .365 batting average and is second on the team in runs scored (16) and hits (27).

The Tiger pitching staff is led by McCormick, who earned CAA Pitcher of the Week honors on Monday. She went 3-0 this past week, striking out 25 and giving up just two runs. McCormick, who has compiled a 2.84 ERA over 81.1 innings pitched, has struck out a team-best 69 batters.

Delaware State enters this week with a 7-19 overall record. The Hornets are coming off an 8-3 loss to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) foe Morgan State.
Tara Tursellino has pitched the majority of games for the Hornets. She has a 5.41 ERA and 79 strikeouts over 112.2 innings pitched.
Vanessa Washington leads the offense with a .346 batting average and a team-high 28 hits.
Jordan Stamps has driven in a team-best 18 RBIs and has 23 hits and a .295 average.

Georgetown (12-20) is looking to snap a five-game losing streak after being swept in a weekend series by Big East rival St. John's. The Hoyas have been led by
Megan Hyson on the mound. She has pitched 114.2 innings, compiling a 3.05 ERA and striking out 116 batters.
Theresa Kane has scored a team-best 23 runs and is tied for the most hits on the team with 30.

Towson will host CAA rival College of Charleston for a weekend series that begins with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 11 at 12 p.m. The Tigers and Cougars will play a single game on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
