TOWSON, Md. – The 2014-15 season did not end the way Towson had envisioned, going out in the first round of the CAA Tournament on March 6. The players took the motivation from that defeat and immediately turned to head strength and conditioning coach
Adam Fletcher to ask when they could start training again for next season.
On March 9, nine returning players were back in the weight room laying the foundation for the 2015-16 season.
The team kept to a strict workout schedule throughout the spring and summer. In the spring, the team worked out in the weight room on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while going through speed and conditioning drills on the court Tuesday's and Thursday's. The team would lift in three groups on Monday's and Wednesday's, allowing Fletcher more specific training with each player. The team would lift as one group Friday mornings at 6 a.m.
The lifting schedule would remain the same for the summer, but instead of two days of on-court conditioning, the team worked on their flexibility at Sid Yoga in Towson.
In addition to all the training, Fletcher eats breakfast and dinner with the guys Monday-Friday during the summer to make sure they are making the right choices in the dining halls.
"It's great working with a group of hungry individuals that come ready for the mental and physical grind of a long off season," said Fletcher. "I tell the guys all the time, I will write the program that can take them to the next level physically, but they have to come with the hard-hat mentality to get the results. You won't have to look hard to see the changes, the Tigers bring back a lot of pieces, but the team will look completely different."
