Towson Hoping Home Continues To Be Sweet Against Drexel

TOWSON, Md. – Following a hard-earned road win at Delaware, the Towson University men's basketball team is looking to finish the week with a flourish when Drexel visits for a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Saturday matinee that will be televised on Comcast SportsNet.
 
The Tigers have been fantastic at home this season, posting victories in seven of their eight outings. They have outscored their eight opponents at SECU Arena by 18 points per game and averaged 78 points . In their last home game on Jan. 7, the Tigers trailed for 11 seconds against UNCW in a 76-60 victory. This is the start of a two-game homestand for Towson.

Military Appreciation Day
The Towson men's basketball team will honor military personnel and veterans! ROTC and TU service members will be recognized. vs. Drexel
This will be the 66th meeting between Drexel and Towson. Drexel leads the all-time series, 48-17. Drexel swept both meetings last season: 55-41 (in Towson) and 53-49 (in Philadelphia). The Tigers are 9-23 all-time against Drexel in Towson, having won two of the last three meetings at home.
 
Last Time Out for Towson
Towson used a 13-3 run late in the second half to turn a two-point deficit into a 79-77 victory over Delaware Thursday evening at the Bob Carpenter Center. Towson made as many field goals (23) as it did free throws (23) in the victory. William Adala Moto finished with 22 points and a career-best 15 rebounds for his fourth double-double this season. It was Adala-Moto's second straight double-double. John Davis added 22 points and seven rebounds. Mike Morsell and Byron Hawkins combined for 25 points and Walter Foster blocked five shots.
 
20-20 Vision
With Adala Moto and Davis each scoring 20 points against Delaware, it was the first time two Tigers scored 20 points in the same game since last season's contest against Monmouth on November 23, 2014 when Four McGlynn scored 27 points and Davis added 22. It also occurred three times in the 2013-14 season.
 
Adala-Moto Matching Benimon
Adala-Moto's 22 point, 15 rebound performance was Towson's first 20-15 game since Jerrelle Benimon went for 21 points and 16 rebounds against Wiilliam & Mary March 1, 2014. Adala-Moto has scored 20 or more points three times this season.
 
The Best Things In Life Are Free
Adala-Moto has been living at the free throw line during the CAA season. He has attempted double-digit free throws in three of Towson's five games: William & Mary (12), UNCW (14), Delaware (11). Through five CAA games, he is 42-for-48 (87.5 percent) from the free-throw line. He's averaging 18.2 points and 9.6 rebounds in the CAA.
 
Cleaning the Glass
Towson outrebounded the Blue Hens 48-40, including 19-12 on the offensive end.in rebounding margin (6.8). It was the ninth time this season, Towson has grabbed at least 15 offensive rebounds in a game. The 19 offensive rebounds matched a season-high for the third time (La Salle and Loyola).
 
Fantastic Foster
Walter Foster has blocked five shots in a game twice (Loyola & Delaware). Foster scored a career-high 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting against Sacred Heart. During the game, Foster converted a trio of old-fashioned 3-point plays. He established career highs in rebounds (14) in the win over Loyola. He recorded his second double-double of the season against Rio Grande (11 points, 10 rebounds).
 
Time Change
Towson's Feb. 20 home game has been adjusted to 12 p.m. and added to the CAA's TV package. The Elon-Towson game will air on Comcast SportsNet. It will be the seventh TV game this season for Towson and the sixth from SECU Arena.
 
Near the Top of the CAA
Through 18 games, Towson leads the CAA in scoring defense (65.8), rebounding (41.0), , rebounding margin (+7.2), offensive rebounds (14.7) and offensive rebounding percentage (.385). The Tigers are second in the CAA in field goal percentage defense (40.0), third in the CAA in blocked shots (4.8) and fourth in 3-point field goal defense (31.5).
 
Scouting Drexel
Kazembe Abif scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds, but Hofstra went on a late run and defeated Drexel, 69-61.  The double-double was the fifth of Abif's career. He was 6-for-9 in the second half. Mojica chipped in with 13 points, but was just 5-for-17 from the floor. Tavon Allen added 10 points. Freshman Terrell Allen had a nice overall game. He finished with nine points, a career-high eight rebounds, five assists and five steals. Drexel's three wins were over La Salle, Penn and Charleston. The Dragons have been led in scoring by the Allen brothers, Tavon and Terrell. They have combined to average 24.5 points per game. Abif leads the Dragons in rebounding (7.2). Through five CAA games, the Dragons leading scorers have been Sammy Williams (13.6) and Sammy Mojica (10.2). Drexel's averaging 65.2 points per game.
