SERIES HISTORY: Towson resumes one of its longest all-time rivalries with Sunday's contest against Delaware. The Tigers and Blue Hens will be meeting for the 68th time tomorrow.
Delaware leads the all-time series 47-20. The two teams split their two meeting last year as each team picked up the victory on their home court. Towson's 56-49 victory at home, gave the Tigers their first win over the Blue Hens since the 2009-10 season. The Blue Hens earned the split with a 72-54 win at home. The Tigers will be looking for their first win at Delaware since the 2007-08 season.
MAKING HISTORY: Towson senior guard
Dominique Johnson reached career milestones in two seperate categories on Friday night against Elon. Johnson's three-pointer with 8:23 to go in the fourth quarter gave her 35 triples this season. It also raised her career total to 191 three-pointers made. That broke
Mia Chapman's (1999-03) school record of 190 career three-pointers. Johnson also dished out a team-high four assists in Friday's contest. That raised her season-total to 39 helpers and her career total to 300 career assists. Johnson is the 10th player in program history to record 300 career assists.
80 AND SUNNY: The Tigers tallied 85 points in Friday's win over Elon. It was the third time this season the Tigers have tallied 80 or more points in a game. Towson is 2-1 in those contests (83-win over Western Illinois, 86-loss at Minnesota, 85-win over Elon). It is the first time since the 1997-98 season that a Tiger squad has scored 80 or more points at least three times in the same season.
THE BIG 1-0-0-0: Towson fans saw the second Tiger player of the season record their 1,000th career point on Friday night. Junior guard
Raven Bankston hit a pair of free throws with 46 seconds to play in the game which gave her 1,000 points for her career. Bankston added three more points in the game and now has 1,003 for her career. Bankston had 766 points in two years at Delaware State. She has tallied 237 points in her first 15 games as a Tiger. Bankston reached the 1,000th career point mark in just 53 career games. Dominique Johnson recorded the 1,000th career with her jumper with 3:47 left in the first quarter at North Florida. She became the 16th member of the 1,000 career point club at Towson. Johnson became the sixth player in program history to reach the mark in less than 100 games, scoring her 1,000th point in her 90th game.
CAREER NIGHTS: Towson sophomore center
Daijha Thomas and freshman forward
Brittany Tarr both posted career performances against Elon. Thomas made her presence known inside as she scored a career-high 17 points. Thomas was an impresive 7-for-9 (77.7%) from the field in the game. Tarr tallied a career and season-high 10 points and matched her career and season-high with eight rebounds. Tarr was a solid 6-for-8 (75%) from the foul line.
WE'LL TAKE THE CHARITY: The Tigers had a solid night from the foul line against Elon. Towson went 26-for-33 (78.8%) from the charity stripe in the contest. It was a season-high in free throws made by the Tigers. It was the also the most made free throws by the Tigers since the 2009-10 season when they made 27 against Hofstra. Most of Towson's success from the stripe can in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter as they were attempting to hold off the Phoenix. Towson was 15-for-19 (78.9%) from the foul line during that closing stretch. Junior guard
