Tigers Set School Record, Place Third At Patriot Games

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Towson indoor track and field team finished third with 111.5 points at the Patriot Games, hosted by George Mason on Saturday. VCU won the meet with 166 points, followed by the host Patriots in second-place (143).
 
Allison Marella set a school record in the 5000m run while Brynn Warrington earned an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) qualifying height in the pole vault. Towson had 34 top-10 finishes at the meet.

HOW IT HAPPENED (TRACK EVENTS)
  • The Tigers impressed in the 5000m run, taking three of the top-five spots and setting a school record. Allison Marella ran a school-record time of 17:18.06 to win the event. Megan Knoblock followed in second-place (17:42.18) while Hannah Walter placed fourth (18:52.83). Knoblock's time ranks sixth on the Towson Top-10 list.
  • Zanae Freeland finished third in the 60m dash with a finals time of 7.80 (7.76 in the semi-finals). Jaina McLean placed 10th, timing 7.98, tied for eighth-best in program history.
  • Liz Reid timed 58.78 in the 400m dash for a fourth-place finish, followed by Kelsey Fiddes in sixth-place (1:00.24).
  • Abby Gauthier placed fourth in the 3000m run, timing 10:36.24.
  • Lindsay Pinckney came in eighth-place in the 200m dash (27.12) while Rachel Laryea finished 10th (27.28).
  • Skyler Bacote finished 10th in the 500m dash, timing 1:24.06.
  • Shelby Bobbie ran the one mile run in 5:23.80 for a 10th-place finish.
  • The Tigers' 4x400m relay team of Freeland, Reid, Brittany Shields and Amanda Famularo were the runner-ups with a time of 3:56.58.
  • The distance medley relay of Bobbie, Pinckney, Figalora and Colleen Cook ran 13:11.49 for a second-place finish.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED (FIELD EVENTS)
  • Towson had three pole vaulters in the top-five, led by Brynn Warrington who was the runner-up with an ECAC qualifying height of 12'1.25". Warrington is just the second Tiger in program history to jump over 12ft. Maggie Rampolla finished third (12'1.25") and Courtney Rose placed fifth (11'1.75").  
  • Naja McAdam placed third in the high jump with a height of 5'5.25". Anna Ranly finished eighth (4'11.5").  
  • Wilhelmina Austin finished fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 36'9".
  • Ashleigh Stallings led the Tiger effort in the shot put, placing fourth (38'10.5"). Lauren Coleman followed in fifth-place (38'2.75") and Jader Godsey in seventh-place (36'11.5").
  • Godsey finished sixth in the weight throw with a distance of 48'11.75" which ranks seventh on the Tiger Top-10 list. Coleman placed seventh (47'10.75") for the event.
 
The Tigers travel next to the two-day Akron Invitational which runs Feb. 5-6.
