IT'S GOOD TO BE HOME: Riding the momentum of a two-game win streak, the Tiger women's basketball team returns home to host William & Mary on Friday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. in SECU Arena. Towson Sports Network's
Ben Rosenbaum and
Ian Jett will have the call of the game for fans starting at 6:40 p.m. Links to the video feed and live stats can found in the story and on the schedule page on TowsonTigers.com. Fans can also follow the Tigers on Twitter (

SERIES HISTORY: Towson returns home to kick off a three-game home stand by welcoming William & Mary to SECU Arena. It will be the 27th meeting all-time between the Tigers and Tribe. William & Mary holds a 15-11 edge in the series. The two teams split their two meetings last season with each team claiming victory on their home court. The Tigers' win last year in SECU came with some drama as
Ciara Webb hit a three-pointer with seven seconds to play in regulation to help the Tigers overcome a 15 point deficit and send the game to overtime where Towson claimed the 77-69 win.
I'M HONORED: Freshman guard
Sianni Martin was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week on Monday. Martin averaged 12.5 points per game while leading the Tigers to a pair of victories last week. It was the third time this season Martin has received CAA Rookie of the Week accolades. She is the first Tiger to be honored three times in the same season since
Dominique Johnson did so during the 2012-13 season.
BIG SHOT DOMO: For the second time in her career, guard
Dominique Johnson connected on a three-pointer in the waning seconds of a game to help the Tigers beat Northeastern. On Sunday, Johnson's triple with 7.4 seconds to play helped the Tigers take a 72-71 lead and proved to be the game-winner as the Huskies' last shot rimmed out. During the 2013-14 season, Johnson hit a three-pointer at the buzzer in SECU Arena to help the Tigers secure the 66-65 win.
HOT HAND SHOOTING: One of the keys to success in Sunday's win at Northeastern was a hot hand shooting the ball. Towson made 27 of its 57 field goal attempts for a field goal percentage of 47.4. It was Towson's best field goal percentage since the Tigers shot 50.9% from the field in a loss to UNC Wilmington during the 2013-14 season.
SMITH SHINES: Towson got a career day from redshirt sophomore forward
Jordyn Smith in Sunday's win over Northeastern. Smith poured in a career-high 17 points on the afternoon. Her 10 first quarter points helped the Tigers get off to a solid start in the game. She also contributed nine rebounds, one off her career-high. Smith had a career-high four assists while playing a career-high 35 minutes in the contest.
BALANCED ATTACK: One of the keys to success for the Tigers this season has been a balanced attack. In Sunday's win over Northeastern, the Tigers saw eight of the nine players who appeared in the game score at least three points and grab at least one rebound. During the last two games, both Tiger wins, Towson has four players averaging 10.5 points per game or better. In the four wins this season, 10 players have scored and 11 of the 13 players who have appeared in those games have grabbed at least one rebound.
GOING DEEP: Towson senior guard
Dominique Johnson continues to prove herself as a dangerous threat from outside. Johnson hit nine three-pointers at Minnesota in December, setting a school record in the process. It was the second time this season and eighth time in her career that she has made five or more three-pointers in a single-game. Johnson has connected on 185 career three-pointers, which ranks second in school history. Her 71 triples last season ranked second in single-season history at Towson. Johnson needs six more three-pointers to break the school record for career three-pointers. The current school record for three-pointers made is 190 set by
Mia Chapman. Â
CLEARING THE GLASS: Towson outrebounded Northeastern 42-39 on Sunday afternoon. Eight of the nine Tigers who played in the game grabbed at least one rebound. That group was led by redshirt sophomore forward
Jordyn Smith who had nine rebounds while sophomore center
Daijha Thomas added six rebounds. Towson is 3-1 this season when it wins the rebounding battle. The only time they won the rebounding battle and didn't win the game was the overtime loss to North Florida.
UP NEXT: Towson remains home to host UNCW on Sunday, Jan. 10 at 1 p.m.
