Wrapping Up Nonconference Action: After an extended break for finals and the holidays, the Towson University women's basketball team returns to the court to wrap up nonconference play. Welcome Teachers: Thursday is "Teacher Appreciation" night in SECU Arena. Any teachers attending the game can receive a free ticket to the game and can purchase additional tickets for family/friends for $5.
Series History: Towson gets a chance to renew a rivalry with Norfolk State. The Tigers and Spartans have met four times previously with the Tigers winning all four. The last time the two squads met was in Norfolk during the 2007-08 season. Towson claimed the 76-55 victory in that contest. It's the second meeting of the season for the Tigers against a team from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Towson hosted and defeated Coppin State on Dec. 3.
Twenty-Twenty Vision: Towson sophomore guard
Sianni Martin scored a team-high 22 points in the Tigers' contest against Rider. Martin scored 15 of her 22 points in the second half as she tried to help the Tigers come back in the contest. She has now scored 20 or more points a team-leading four times this season and five times in her career.
Defensive Dynamos: Towson continues to take advantage of its opponents' turnovers. The Tigers scored 24 points off 21 Rider turnovers last time out. It was the eighth time this season that Towson has scored 20 or more points off opponents' turnovers. Through games on Dec. 23, Towson led the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and ranked 15th in the nation while forcing 22.00 turnovers per game.
Stepping Up: The Tigers got a lift from two players off the bench against Rider. Freshman guard/forward
Nukiya Mayo scored a season-high 13 points against the Broncs. She had four field goals, including three from behind the arc. Junior center
Daijha Thomas had one of her best games of the season with a season-high 10 points, five rebounds and three steals against Rider.
I'm Honored: Towson senior guard
Raven Bankston was named the TowsonTigers.com Female Student-Athlete of the Week on Dec. 13. Bankston earned the honor for the second time this season. She averaged 15.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.0 steals per game in three games for the Tigers.
Seeing Double: Towson had four players score in double figures against Rider. It was the fourth time this season, Towson has had four players score in double figures in the same game. Sophomore guard

Daijha Thomas finished with 10 points. Towson is 2-2 this season when it has four players score in double figures in the same game.
Pound The Ball Inside: The Tigers have found a way to take the ball inside and to the basket this season. Towson scored a season-high 42 points in the paint against Rider. The Tigers are averaging 30.2 points per game in the paint this season. The Tigers have scored 30 or more points in the paint in four games this season.
We'll Take The Charity: The Tigers continue to find ways to get to the charity stripe and take advantage of those opportunities. Towson went 11-for-16 (68.8%) from the foul line against Rider. The Tigers have now shot 60 percent or better from the charity stripe in eight games this season. Six of those games have seen Towson shoot 70 percent or better. Towson now has a free throw percentage of 69.8 (139-for-199) for the season. As of Dec. 23, the Tigers ranked fourth in the CAA in that category and had made the most free throws of any CAA team. Raven Bankston leads the team at the charity stripe. She has connected on 35-of-38 chances (92.1%) and ranked first in the league and 12th nationally for free throw percentage as of Dec. 23.
Up Next: The Tigers open Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play with a two-game road trip. The Tigers begin CAA play with a contest at Drexel on Monday, Jan. 2 before heading to Northeastern on Friday, Jan. 6. Towson returns to SECU Arena on Sunday, Jan. 8 to host James Madison.
