Tigers Face a Tough Test at James Madison on Sunday

TOUGH CHALLENGE AHEAD: The Tiger women's basketball team plays the middle game of a three-game road trip on Sunday, Feb. 21 and will face a tough challenge. Towson visits Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) front runner James Madison for a 2 p.m. contest. Links to live stats and the video feed can be found on the schedule page of TowsonTigers.com. Fans can also follow the Tigers on Twitter (@Towson_WBB) for in-game updates.

SCOUTING THE DUKES: James Madison avenged its only Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) loss of the season with an 83-63 win over William & Mary on Friday night. Jazmon Gwathmey led all scorers with 22 points in that contest while Da'Lishia Griffin had 12 points and 18 rebounds. The Dukes are now 19-5 on the season and 12-1 in CAA play. Gwathmey leads the Dukes on the season while averaging a CAA best 21.1 points per game with 36 blocks. Griffin leads James Madison on the boards while pulling down 10 boards per game.

SERIES HISTORY: Towson faces a tough opponent in James Madison Sunday. The Dukes hold a commanding 38-3 lead in the all-time series. James Madison has won 10 straight after claiming a 64-57 win over the Tigers in SECU Arena in January. Jazmon Gwathmey led all players with 28 points in that game while junior guard Raven Bankston had 15 points for the Tigers.

PHILLY DUO FINDS SUCCESS IN RETURN HOME: Friday night's game at Drexel was a homecoming for Towson freshmen Sianni Martin and AJ Timbers. Timbers poured in a career-high 16 points against the Dragons to go along with four rebounds and a steal. Martin contributed 14 points, one assist, one rebound and a steal in the contest at Drexel.

THE SWIPE SHOW: The Tigers have made use of their quick hands throughout the season. Towson had eight steals in the game at Drexel on Friday night while holding the Dragons to seven steals. It marked the fourth straight game and 19th time this season the Tigers have recorded more steals than their opponent. Redshirt sophomore guard Raine Bankston led the Tigers efforts against Drexel with three steals. Towson now has 221 steals on the season, which surpasses its steals total from a year ago. Towson needs two more steals to surpass its season total from the 2013-14 season. Seven Tigers have recorded at least 10 steals this season. That group is led by junior guard Raven Bankston who has 59 steals. Bankston needs one more steal to become the first Tiger since Tanisha McTiller (2013-14) to record 60 or more steals in a season.
The Tigers rank second in the CAA while averaging 8.8 steals per game.

CLIMBING THE RANKS: Senior guard Dominique Johnson has left her name throughout the Tiger record book. Johnson enters Sunday's game with 428 career field goals made. She needs three more made field goals to enter the top 10 for career field goals made at Towson.

THE BIG 4-0-0: Towson junior guard Raven Bankston has piled up the points for the Tigers this season. Bankston enters Sunday's game with 386 points this year. She needs 14 more points to become the 17th player in school history to score at least 400 points in a single-season.

UP NEXT: Towson visits William & Mary on Friday, Feb. 26 to close out the road trip.
