NORFOLK, Va. – The Towson baseball team continues its season-opening road swing as the Tigers travel for a three-game series at Norfolk State March 11-13. The series gets underway Friday at 5 p.m. and continues with a 2 p.m. first pitch Saturday and a 12 p.m. start Sunday.
Weekend RotationThe Tigers will have the same starting rotation for the fourth-straight weekend. Left hander
Matt Golczewski (0-1, 4.26 ERA) will get the start in the series opener, while right hander
Austin Clark (0-2, 6.91 ERA) takes the mound Saturday. Right hander
Kevin Ross (0-1, 10.80 ERA) toes the rubber in the series finale.
Last Time OutThe Tigers saw their two-game winning streak come to an end with a 12-3 loss at UMBC Tuesday evening.
Colin Gimblet led the offense with a pair of hits and an RBI. He also threw out a runner at the plate.
Palacios HonoredFreshman shortstop
Richie Palacios was honored as the CAA co-Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. Palacios went 6-for-14 (.429) with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored. He also collected a pair of walks and stole two bases. He collected two hits in each game and drove in the game-winning run in the victory over Harvard.
Stricker's Strong OutingJunior left hander
Kyle Stricker was dominating out of the bullpen in the victory over Harvard. He allowed just one hit over 6.2 shutout innings. He retired the first 14 hitters he faced before allowing a leadoff single in the eighth. He bounced right back and retired the next six hitters to close out the game.
On DeckThe Tigers close out their season-opening 15-game road swing with a two-game midweek series at defending national champion Virginia March 15-16. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. both days.
