TOWSON, Md. – The Towson gymnastics program wrapped up its regular season with a victory over William & Mary on Sunday evening. The Tigers defeated the Tribe 194.625-194.075. The meet served as Senior Day for the Tigers as the team honored seniors
Lydia Thompson and
Vicki Vesecky at the conclusion of the meet.
The Tigers' team total of 194.625 was their best team total inside SECU Arena this season and the second-highest of the season. Towson set a season-high on vault with an event total of 48.550.

HOW IT HAPPENED - The Tigers opened the meet on vault, scoring a season-high team total of 48.550. Erin Tucker led the Tiger effort with a career-high 9.775 to finish in third-place. Tyra McKellar followed in fourth-place, tallying 9.750 while three Tigers tied for fifth-place with matching scores of 9.675. Those Tigers were Cortni Baker, Noelle Harada and Bayleigh Fobes.
- Towson entered the second rotation tied with William & Mary at 48.550 apiece.
- McKellar won the uneven bars individual title with a score of 9.825. Harada placed fourth, scoring 9.725.
- The Tribe jumped out to a narrow 97.075-97.025 lead over the Tigers after the second rotation.
- Mary Elle Arduino won her fourth-straight balance beam individual title, scoring 9.800. Gabriella Yarussi came in third-place (9.750) while for the second time of the night, three Tigers tied for fifth-place. Lauren Cahalan, Bridget Steffen and McKellar all scored 9.700 on the event for the fifth-place finishes.
- William & Mary held its lead going into the fourth and final rotation of the meet. The Tribe held a 145.800-145.675 advantage over the Tigers.
- Towson impressed in the final event of the meet, scoring a team total of 48.950 on floor exercise. Aysia Sharif won the individual event total, tying her career-high of 9.875. McKellar tied for second-place with a score of 9.850 while Katie McGrady finished fourth (9.800). Harada wrapped up the top-five action for the Tigers, tying for fifth-place with a score of 9.750.
- McKellar was the runner-up in the all-around, earning a total of 39.125.
UP NEXT Towson begins postseason action on March 19 as the Tigers head to Pittsburgh for the 2016 EAGL Championships. The meet will take place at 2 p.m. at the Fitzgerald Field House.
