TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team returns to action when it hosts George Mason in a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon. First-pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. from the Tiger Softball Stadium. It will be the conclusion of Towson's eight-game homestand.

LAST TIME OUT FOR TOWSON: The Tigers took two of three games from Hofstra in its opening Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) series. It was the first time since 2002 that the Tigers won a three-game series from Hofstra. Towson captured the last two games in exciting fashion by winning each contest by 6-5 counts.
Shelby Stracher and
Brook Miko led the Tigers over the weekend. They combined for seven of Towson's 17 hits. Stracher hit .429 and Miko hit .400.
Holiday Cahill belted a pair of home runs for the Tigers during the series.

AGAINST GEORGE MASON: Towson is 44-29 all-time against the Patriots. The teams split a doubleheader last season with Towson winning 1-0 and falling 3-0.

CONSISTENT EXCELLENCE: With its two victories over the weekend, Towson has won at least 20 games for the 19th consecutive season. It's the 24th time in program history, Towson has won at least 20 games in a season. The Tigers are 21-6.

LEADERS OF THE CAA: Towson continues to lead the CAA in offense this season. They are at the top of the conference in batting average (.321), slugging percentage (.553), on-base percentage (.400), runs batted in (158) and total bases (398). The Tigers are second among conference teams in runs scored (176), home runs (37), sacrifice bunts (23) and stolen bases (46). Towson is third in hits (231), doubles (46) and triples (five).

SUPER STRACHER: Stracher is killing it through 26 games for the Tigers. She leads the CAA in batting average (.474), slugging percentage (.936), RBIs (37), home runs (10), total bases (73), and sacrifice flies (four).

POWER SURGE: Cahill has homered in three of her last four games for a total of five home runs this season. Cahill ranks fourth in the CAA in RBIs with 26. She is tied with
Missy McCormick for third all-time in program history with 21 career homers. Aimee Rosa (31 homers) and Stef Streets (23) are ahead of Cahill.

A LOOK AT GEORGE MASON: George Mason defeated Rhode Island, 4-1, to take the opening Atlantic 10 series of the season two games to one over the weekend. Samantha Zaccari was the Patriots' best hitter of the weekend going 4-6, with three runs and three RBIs in the final two games of the series, both Mason wins. The Patriots are hitting .284 as a team with four players who have .300 averages: McKenzie Jones (.377, 20 hits), Casey Price (.343, eight doubles, team-leading 21 RBIs), Julia Czarnecki (.322, 22 hits) and Liz Seymour (.307).
