TOWSON, Md. – Towson University volleyball head coach
Don Metil announced four summer camp options that will be offered as part of the Towson Volleyball Academy.
The "all-skills high potential" camp will be July 13-15 for players in grades 6-12. There will be a morning session from 8-2 p.m. with check-in and warm-up time from 7:15 to 8 a.m. The afternoon session will run from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a check-in/warm-up session from 1:45-2:30 p.m. The cost for this camp will be $275.
Every player at the all-skills camp will have the chance to learn every skill (serving, passing, setting, attacking, blocking and individual defense) making this camp one of the best experiences to improve weaknesses and strengthen the overall skill set to play volleyball.
There will also be an "all-skills UA Elite" camp from July 13-15 for players in grades 8-12.
This court during the all skills camp offers a high level of training and increased playing time for athletes entering grades 8 - 12. "College-style" court sessions with exposure to the tactical aspects of the game are stressed in the intense volleyball experience. This session is ideal for the experienced volleyball player (starting varsity/multiple years of club experience) striving to be their best.
Towson Volleyball Academy will offer an overnight "prospect camp" from July 7-10. This camp is for players in grades 8-12. Sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day with breaks for lunch and dinner. Breakfast will be offered starting at 7 a.m. for overnight campers. Camp will cost $500 for overnight campers and $375 for commuters.
This camp is for athletes on a college recruitment track as sessions are geared toward Division I practices. This fast-paced camp is recommended for the starting varsity and/or experienced club athlete. Precise skill work and game-like drills will be utilized to develop a player's tactical-minded game.
Towson Volleyball Academy also offers "satellite camp" options. The three or four day summer camps are designed to teach both athletes and coaches all fundamental skills, along with introducing a variety of competitive small group and 6v6 drills, games, and activities. It's a great way to prepare all teams within the program (middle school, 9th grade, JV, and varsity) for the upcoming season. Plus, teams get the added bonus of every athlete being trained the same way within their program, so growth and understanding occur at a more rapid pace. The athletes also get to go home to their own comfortable beds every night which also makes this an affordable, economical choice for programs on a budget.
