TOWSON, Md. – Members of the Towson University women's golf team are leaving their mark of excellence while competing in various summer tournaments along the east coast.
Jenny Buchanan and
Alix Lowe had a pair of top 10 finishes at the 2016 New York State Women's Amateur & Mid-Amateur Championships. The event was held last weekend at the Elmira Country Club.
In addition,
Alexis Hios had the lowest score of any amateur entered into the Lincoln Women's Met Open Championship. Hios, who shot a 75 and 74, tied for fourth in the event.
Buchanan had a strong tournament in which she finished fourth overall (+13). She had a consistently solid showing with seven birdies during the 54-hole tournament. Buchanan carded a three-over 76 in the first two rounds before firing an 80 in the final round. In the final round, Buchanan had three of her birdies and had a 38 on the front nine.
Meanwhile, Lowe was seventh overall (+24). She saved her best for last as she carded a two-over 75 in the final round. Lowe had three of her six birdies in the final round. She shot a 35 on the front nine.
More Towson golfers will be busy this week as
Mackenzie Rice,
Stephanie Bosdosh and Josephine Jung will compete in the Maryland State Golf Association (MSGA) Women's Amateur Championship at the Manor Country Club in Rockville.
