AMES, Iowa – The Towson University gymnastics team finished second at the Iowa State tri-meet on Friday evening, defeating the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh but falling to the host Cyclones. Iowa State finished with a team score of 194.275, followed by the Tigers (193.075) and the Titans (184.025).
Towson's best performance of the night was on the floor exercise as the Tigers recorded a season-high 49.100. Towson had gymnastics set or matched five career-bests with their performances on Friday. In addition, the Tigers set or matched eight season-bests for routines.

How it Happened
- Towson opened the meet on the uneven bars, recording a team score of 47.925. Tyra McKellar led the Tigers' effort, tying for third-place (9.750). Noelle Harada placed eighth (9.575), followed by Brittney Ranti (9th-place, 9.550) and Melissa Temkov (T-10th-place, 9.525) in the top 10.
- The Tigers moved to the balance beam for the second rotation, totaling 47.950. Mary Elle Arduino tied for third-place with a score of 9.700. McKellar and Gabriella Yarussi earned matching scores of 9.650 to finish tied for fifth-place. Ally Wesoly (8th-place, 9.500) and Harada (9th-place, 9.450) finished in the top 10.
- Towson's best performance came on the floor exercise in the third rotation. The Tigers totaled 49.100, a season-best for the event. McKellar and Bayleigh Fobes tied for third-place with score of 9.850. Harada and Cortni Baker earned marks of 9.825 to tie for fifth-place. Erin tucker recorded a 9.750 in her collegiate debut on floor exercise to finished eighth.
- The Tigers wrapped up the meet on vault, scoring 48.100, its second best event total of the night. Tucker tied for third-place (9.750) in her collegiate debut for the event while Baker and Yarussi earned matching 9.650 scores to tie for seventh-place. Temjov and Fobes tied for 10th-place with a 9.625.
- In the all-around, McKellar competed for the first time this season, totaling 38.700 to tie for second-place. Temkov placed fourth with a score of 37.525 after competing as an all-around gymnast for a second-straight meet.
Behind the Scores
- Baker (9.650) and Fobes (9.525) recorded season-bests on vault, while Tucker (9.750) matched her season-best for the event. Yarussi set a career-best on vault with her mark of 9.650.
- Wesoly set a career-best on the uneven bars with her score of 9.500. Also on the uneven bars, McKellar matched her season-best with a 9.750.
- Harada (9.450) set a season-best on balance beam.
- Fobes earned a career-high 9.850 on floor. A total of three gymnasts set season-bests on floor exercise, McKellar (9.850), Baker (9.825), Harada (9.825). Harada's score also matched her career-high. Tucker made her collegiate-debut on the event, recording a 9.750 score.
- Towson's floor total of 49.100 is the Tigers' best for that event since earning a mark of 49.175 at George Washington on Feb. 28, 2016.
