Series History: Towson renews one of its longest running rivalries as the Tigers welcome the Blue Hens to SECU Arena Sunday. It will be the 70th meeting between the two squads in a series that began during the 1976-77 season. Delaware leads the all-time series 49-20 and has won three straight after capturing a 66-62 victory when the two squads met in Towson last February.
Â
Seeing Double: Towson had a pair of players score in double figures in Friday night's contest at UNCW. Senior guard
Raven Bankston led the team with 14 points while sophomore guard
Sianni Martin tallied 11 points. Bankston has now scored in double figures in nine straight games and 18 of the 19 contests this season. She has scored in double figures 78 times in her career. Martin has recorded double figures in four straight games and 15 of 17 games this season. She has hit the double digit mark in 30 games in her career.
Â
Loving the Home Cooking: Towson returns home looking to build on what's been a solid home stretch this season. The Tigers have won eight of their first 11 home games this season. That matches the most home wins under head coach
Niki Reid Geckeler. Towson is shooting 40.8 percent from the field at home and is averaging 67.4 points per game in those contests. Senior guard
Raven Bankston is averaging 17.0 points per game at home while junior forward
Mary Cuevas is collecting a team-high 6.7 rebounds per game at home.
Â
Lending a Helping Hand: The Tigers dished out 10 assists on Friday night at UNCW. The Tigers had five players record at least one assist in the game and that group was led by senior guard
Raven Bankston, who matched her season-high with five assists. The Tigers have now recorded double digit assists in six straight games and 15 of the 19 contests this season.
Â
Reaching the Halfway Point: Towson hits the halfway point of the CAA schedule when it plays hosts to Delaware. A win over the Blue Hens would give the Tigers their most CAA wins at the halfway point under head coach
Niki Reid Geckeler.
Â
Up Next: Towson hits the road for both games next weekend. Towson visits Elon on Friday, Feb. 4 and College of Charleston on Sunday, Feb. 6. The Tigers return to SECU Arena on Friday, Feb. 10 to host UNCW.
