TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's swimming and diving team totaled 21 top-three finishes, including two individual event wins and two relay victories, but UMBC earned first-place points in 10 events as the Tigers fell to UMBC in their home opener Saturday at Burdick Hall, 157-140.

Jack Saunderson remained unbeaten in three 100-yard butterfly races this season while senior
Colin Roddy posted his first event win of the season in the 200-yard individual medley.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Saunderson touched the wall in 49.04 seconds to win the 100 fly after he finished second in the 200-yard freestyle. After winning the 200-yard butterfly at Navy on Friday, he did not race in the event today.
- Freshman Nick McClure was Towson's top finisher in the 200 fly in 1:53.85, just 0.82 seconds behind UMBC's Philip Adejumo.
- Roddy won the 200 IM in a time of 1:56.42, just 0.01 seconds ahead of UMBC's Tre Fissella, posting the Tigers' second-fastest time of the season.
- Saunderson, freshman Erek Nelson, sophomore Ryan O'Leary and senior Nick Essing teamed up to finish first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:33.27, a margin of 0.69 seconds ahead of UMBC.
- Saunderson, Essing, sophomore Matthew Essing and junior Evan Brophy finished first in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:07.76, two seconds ahead of second-place UMBC.
- Individually, Nick finished second in the 50-yard freestyle, just ahead of his brother Matthew. In the 100 free, Matthew finished second ahead of Nick.
- Brophy had a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle.
- O'Leary had two second-place finishes in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke.
- Nelson finished second in the 100-yard backstroke ahead of junior Zach Bishop who finished second in the back while Nelson came in third.
- Sophomore Owen Robinson was third in the 100 back.
- Junior Stefan Keller finished third in the 200 breast.
- Freshman Will Canny won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 263.025, 8.275 points ahead of UMBC's Elijah Wright. Canny finished second in the 3-meter event behind Wright.
