Tigers Get Back to Action By Hosting Colgate Sunday

Back to Work: After a couple of days off for Thanksgiving, the Towson University women's basketball team returns to the court on Sunday, Nov. 26. Towson welcomes Colgate to SECU Arena for a 2 p.m. tip as it looks to build on the momentum of Tuesday's 95-64 win over UMBC. Links to the live stats and the video feed can be found on the schedule page of TowsonTigers.com. Towson Sports Network's Ben Rosenbaum will be on the air calling the action at 1:45 p.m. Fans can also follow the Tigers on Twitter (@Towson_WBB) for updates.

Series History: For just the second time ever, the Tigers get a chance to face the Colgate Raiders. Last year when the two squads met in New York, the Raiders jumped out to 38-25 halftime advantage and held off a second half run by the Tigers for a 76-71 victory. Mackenzie Carroll led Colgate with 19 points while Raven Bankston contributed 24 points for the Tigers.

90 and Feeling Fine: The Tigers exploded for 95 points in Tuesday's win over UMBC. Towson scored 90 points for the first time since last year's season opener against UMass Lowell.
The 95 points scored by the Tigers against UMBC are the second most single-game points in program history. The school record for single-game points is 96, set by the 1979-80 team at St. Mary's. It was also the 18th time in program history the Tigers have scored 90 or more points in game.

Twenty-Twenty Vision: The Tigers got a pair of 20+ point performances in Tuesday's win over UMBC. Sophomore forward Nukiya Mayo poured in a career-best 22 points while junior guard Danielle Durjan contributed a career-best 21 points. It was the first time the Tigers had two 20+ point performances in the same game since Raven Bankston and Sianni Martin did so in last year's season opener.

Clearing the Glass: Towson has found success in the rebounding battle so far this season. For the fourth straight game, the Tigers won the rebounding battle as they recorded 45 boards to UMBC's 39. For the third straight game sophomore forward Nukiya Mayo led the Tigers, this time with nine rebounds. The Tigers have won the rebounding battle by at least five in three of their first four games this season. Towson enters the weekend ranked fourth in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) with a +5.5 rebounding margin.

Going Deep: For the second straight game the Tigers heated up from behind the arc. Towson hit eight three-pointers in the game and shot 40 percent from behind the arc for the game.
Junior guard Danielle Durjan hit five three-pointers for the second straight game. Durjan is the first Tiger to have two games with five or more triples in it since Dominique Johnson did so during the 2015-16 season. The Tigers have hit 17 of their 20 three-pointers in the last two games combined. Durjan leads the Tigers with 11 three-pointers this season. She is tied for the CAA lead while averaging 2.8 three-pointers per game.

Lock Down Defense: Towson got another lock down performance from its defense in the first quarter against UMBC. The Tigers held the Retrievers to just nine points in the first 10 minutes of the game. UMBC shot just 4-for-14 from the field during that period. It's the second time this season the Tigers have held an opponent to single-digits in a period (5 points in second period versus George Washington).

Bench Production: Towson got plenty of production from it's bench on Tuesday. Led by sophomore Etalyia Vogt's career-high 15 points, the Tiger bench contributed 39 points in the game.
It was the most bench points for the Tigers since the bench scored 34 in a win over College of Charleston last year. Through the first four games this season, the Tigers are averaging 23.3 points per game from their bench.

I'll Take That: Towson hauled in a season-high 15 steals in Tuesday's win over UMBC. Guards Danielle Durjan and Etalyia Vogt led the Tigers with four steals each. It was the most steals by a Tiger squad since they had 17 against UMBC last year. The Tigers are averaging nine steals per game this season. Durjan leads the Tigers with seven steals on the season while Vogt has added six steals.

Up Next: The Tigers continue their current home stand when they host Wagner on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.
