NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The Towson University baseball team will open the 2017 season with a four-game series at CSUN this weekend.  The series will get underway Friday at 5 p.m. and continue with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.  The series will conclude with a 3 p.m. start on Sunday.

Latest Opener
Friday's season opener marks the latest the Tigers have opened a season since they opened the 2005 season on Feb. 25 in Charleston, South Carolina.  Towson opened the season with losses to College of Charleston and Maryland, before defeating LeMoyne.
 
Playing in California
This season marks the third time in the last four seasons the Tigers have ventured out to the left coast.  Towson opened the 2015 season at USC, and traveled to Cal State Bakersfield during the second week of the 2014 season.
 
Head West My Friend
The 2017 season marks the fifth time since 2010 that the Tigers have traveled west for a weekend series.  Towson played at New Mexico State in 2016, USC in 2015, Cal State Bakersfield in 2014 and Arizona State in 2010.
 
Palacios Honors
Sophomore Richie Palacios was honored as a Preseason First-Team All-CAA selection.  He was also named the No. 28 ranked shortstop in college baseball by DiBaseball.com.
