TOWSON, Md. – In light of the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, Towson volleyball and Towson athletics are announcing the initiative, Make Puerto Rico Shine Again!, to assist in the relief efforts.
Spearheaded by Towson volleyball's Puerto Rican student-athletes
Carola Biver,
Jocelyn Kuilan and
Julymar Otero, Make Puerto Rico Shine Again! will focus on collecting flashlights and batteries and support United for Puerto Rico with monetary donations.
"It means everything to be able to make a difference for Puerto Rico," Biver said. "It's also nice to have a great support system behind me. What started off as an idea in my head has slowly become a reality and a lot of people continue to donate while providing support. It's great and makes me feel wonderful about myself, my teammates, and the staff here at Towson that we can help out not only my family, but other families back home who are in need."
Donations will be collected during Towson home games this weekend (volleyball vs. Hofstra at 8 p.m. on Friday; football vs. Villanova at 6 p.m. on Saturday and volleyball vs. Northeastern at 1 p.m. on Sunday). Monetary donations are encouraged to United for Puerto Rico at:

There will be a special recognition that will take place pregame of Friday's volleyball game versus Hofstra.
"It means everything to be able to help Puerto Rico," Otero said. "I want to help them and be there for them."
