Southern Swing: The Tigers open a two-game swing through the Carolinas on Friday at Elon's Alumni Gym for a 7 p.m. tipoff. Towson follows up on Sunday with a trip to the College of Charleston on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Series History: Elon leads the all-time series since joining the CAA at 5-1. In the last meeting, the Tigers were edged 67-65 at SECU Arena in late February 2017.
Last Time Out: It was heartbreak in Newark, Delaware on Sunday as the host Blue Hens knocked down a jumper in the final seconds of the game to take a 51-49 lead. Towson got 15 points each from Mary Cuevas and Danielle Durjan. Cuevas turned in her third-straight double-double and her 13th straight double-digit point game.
Seeing Double: The Tigers got another double-double on Sunday at Delaware from
Mary Cuevas, who finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Cuevas has a double-double in each of her last three games and eight total on the season. It was the fourth double-double in the last six games for Cuevas. For the season, Cuevas leads the team with seven double-doubles, while
Nukiya Mayo has added five. It is the most double-doubles by a Tiger since
LaTorri Hines-Allen had 14 during the 2014-15 campaign.
I'LL TAKE THAT: Towson has recorded 68 steals through six CAA games this season. In CAA-only contests the Tigers are averaging a league-best 11.0 steals per game. Raine Bankston and Etalyia Vogt lead the Tigers with 16 and 14 steals each in league action. Danielle Durjan is also in double figures with 11 CAA steals. Overall, the Tigers have 156 steals and rank fourth in the CAA while averaging 9.8 steals per game.
Taking Advantage of the Second Chances: The Tigers have done a solid job of taking advantage of their second chances this season. Towson comes into the weekend averaging 14.5 second chance points per game. The Tigers have scored a season-high 22 second chance points twice (at Pitt, College of Charleston). Towson has out-scored opponents in second-chance points in two of its last three games. Towson comes into Sunday's action leading the league and ranked sixth nationally while averaging 17.4 offensive rebounds per game.
Up Next: The Tigers head across the state and down the coast as they travel to face the College of Charleston Sunday afternoon. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
