MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - Towson University women's gymnastics freshman
Tess Zientek posted career highs on both the vault and the bars, but the Tigers dropped decisions to current EAGL rival George Washington and former foe West Virginia Sunday at WVU Coliseum.
George Washington finished first with 195.575 points while West Virginia was second with 195.400 and Towson was third with 194.000.
Sophomore
Melissa Temkov finished first on beam while junior
Cortni Baker was second on vault and senior
Tyra McKellar was second on bars.
How it Happened
- Zientek posted a career-high 9.600 on vault, surpassing the 9.500 she set at the Little Boston Invitational. Baker tied her career with a 9.850 while McKellar and freshman Kyla Gamble tied for eighth as each had a 9.750.
- In her first career appearance on bars, finished third with a 9.750, just 0.025 points behind McKellar who was second with a 9.775. Gamble tied for seventh with a 9.700.
- Temkov tied for first on beam with George Washington's Jillian Winstanley as both posted a 9.825. Senior Gabriella Yarussi tied for third with a 9.800 and senior Lauren Cahalan tied for sixth with a 9.775.
- McKellar was the lone Tiger in the top-10 on floor and finished fourth in the all-around with a 39.025, just shy of her career-high 39.300.
