SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Towson University men's swimming and diving team had a strong showing at Seton Hall despite a 162.5-134.5 setback Saturday.
Jack Saunderson led the way for the Tigers by winning the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard backstroke. In addition, Saunderson and Matt Essing were a part of a pair of winning relay teams.
How it Happened
· Saunderson claimed the 200-yard butterfly in 1:47.41 and 200-yard backstoke in 1:52.29.
· Saunderson teamed up with Owen Robinson, Ryan O'Leary and Matt Essing to win the 200-yard medley relay (1:32.10).
· Robinson also won the 100-yard breaststroke (51.12).
· Essing captured the 50-yard freestyle (20.74).
· In the 400-yard freestyle relay Essing and Saunderson teamed up with Zach Bishop and Ryan Baldino to win the event in 3:06.61.
· Evan Brophy came in second in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:45.87).
· Ryan Baldino tied for second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.36).
· O'Leary was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.21) and Ben Johnston finished third (59.35).
· In the 3-meter diving competition Devin Gaul scored 234.15 to finish in second and Will Canny came in third scoring 227.41.
· Baldino had a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (47.07).
· O'Leary also finished in second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.81) and Nick Fitzwilliam finished in third (2:13.25).
· Evan Lynch took second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:40.33.
· Richard Keller got second in the 400-yard individual medley (4:08.41).
· Spencer Franklin and Bishop tied for fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (52.44).
Up Next for Towson
The Tigers will stay on the road as they head to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania in two weeks to compete in the Bucknell Invitational. The meet is scheduled to take place Nov.16-18 with the prelims starting at 10 a.m. and the finals beginning at 6 p.m.
