TOWSON, Md. - On a day when the Towson University women's gymnastics team celebrated its 50-year history and welcomed over 100 alumni back to campus, the Tigers put on an impressive show in a tri-meet with Southern Connecticut State and Gustavus Adolphus Sunday at SECU Arena.
Towson took home first place with 195.450 points, the 10th-highest team score in program history, which included a school record 49.250 points on beam. Southern Connecticut State was second with 190.825 points while Gustavus Adolphus was third with 184.925 points.
The Tigers won every event and had eight first-place finishes. Senior

Mary Elle Arduino each totaled two first-place finishes, highlighted by identical school records in the beam with a score of 9.950.
How It Happened
- Towson started off on vault where they posted a season-high 48.850 after sweeping the top four spots. Senior Tyra McKellar and junior Cortni Baker tied for first with a 9.800 while Yarussi was third with a 9.775 and freshman Kyla Gamble was fourth with a 9.750. The Tigers earned five of the top six positions as junior Erin Tucker placed sixth with a 9.725.
- On bars, Gamble totaled a career-high 9.800 to lead a 1-2-3 Towson finish. Freshman Tess Zientek was second with a 9.750 while Baker was third with a 9.725. The Tigers earned five of the top seven spots as senior Katie McGrady finished fifth and Arduino came in seventh.
- Towson posted a school record 49.250 on beam, equaling the mark set on Mar. 15, 2015. Yarussi set a new school record, breaking a three-way tie with Arduino (2016), Annukka Almenoksa (2008) and Cari Zawistowski (2001). On the next routine, Arduino posted a 9.950 of her own to regain a share of the new record. The Tigers swept the top five spots as McKellar and McGrady, who posted a career high, were tied for third with a 9.825 while sophomore Melissa Temkov was fifth with a 9.700.
- On floor, Yarussi and Temkov, who posted a career high, tied for first with a 9.800 as Towson posted the top five scores and six of the top seven. Baker and McGrady were third with a 9.750 and Arduino was fifth with a 9.725. Senior Lauren Cahalan was seventh with a 9.650.
- Arduino won the all-around with a 38.900 which was just shy of her career high of 38.950.
