Tigers Extend Streak To Eight With Pair Of Wins

| BOX SCORE 2 TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team used a nine-run fourth inning highlighted by three home runs, including a Nicole Stockinger grand slam, to beat Fairfield, 14-1, in the Tiger Clash Saturday afternoon at the Tiger Softball Stadium.

The Tigers returned a short time later and rode the dominant pitching of Julia Smith-Harrington, who opened the game with 6.1 hitless innings, to defeat Mount St. Mary's, 4-0.

The two victories extended Towson's winning streak to eight and raised its record to 14-3, its best mark after 17 games since 1987.

Quotable
Smith-Harrington on her pitching effort.
"This the best I've done in being able to calm myself down even when runners got on base. I knew that even when those two runners got on base, I knew that my teammates would have my back and we would be able to get that out without anyone scoring. With my defense playing well, it allowed me to be looser and attack the zone. As a team, we are having fun playing the game that we love."

Nicole Stockinger on Towson's start, her grand slam and Smith-Harrington.
"Everybody is contributing. The pitching is great. The defense has been making plays and our hitters are driving in runs when needed. During my at bat (that ended with a grand slam), I was just trying to hit a hard ball up the ball and make contact. I wanted to hit the ball hard and drive in a run. Watching Julia today was phenomenal and she did a great job today. She threw a great game."
