Tigers Host Ohio in Weekend Series

TOWSON, Md. - The Towson University team will play host to Ohio University in a three-game series at Schuerholz Park March 9-11.  The series opener is set for 2 p.m., with a 1 p.m. start on Saturday and Sunday.

Weekend Series
The Tigers will play their first midweek game of the season as they travel to face George Mason on March 7.  First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.

Weekend Weather
The forecast for the weekend is calling for temperatues in the mid-40s for all three days.  The wind will be around 15-25mph on Friday and slowly decline as the weekend progresses.


Series History
The teams are meeting for just the second time on the diamond.  The only other meeting happened Feb. 21, 2010 in Elon, North Carolina.  The Bobcats won the game, 13-6.


vs. the MAC
The Tigers have played 15 games against teams from the Mid-American Conference.  The most common opponent is the University of Buffalo (6-5), which the Tigers have played 11 times.  Towson has also played Ball State (1-0) and Bowling Green (0-2).


Tigers Sign Jack McCoy

On Thursday afternoon, Towson baseball officially signed Jack McCoy as an honorary member of the program.  McCoy is in the Postsecondary Functional Academic Learning Support Outreach Program.  Jack will help the Tigers shag during batting practice at weekend games.


Watters Collects 3 Hits at Mason
First baseman Charlie Watters collected three hits in the Tigers midweek game at George Mason.  The senior doubled and singled down the left-field line, while also hitting a two-run homer to left field.  Over the last two games, Watters is 4-for-7 with two doubles, a home run and three RBIs.


Palacios Hit Streak Ends at 13
Shortstop Richie Palacios saw his hit streak end at 13 games against George Mason.  It is the third longest streak of his career.  He had a 15-game streak as a freshman and a 14-game streak a season ago.  He did draw three walks in the game and extended his streak of reaching safely to 14 games.

The Tigers have a pair of midweek games next week as they travel to face Delaware State on March 13 and host UMBC March 14.
