Fobbs And Howard Join Towson Family

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's basketball team has announced the signing of Brian Fobbs and T.J. Howard to National Letter of Intents. Both players will begin playing for the Tigers in the fall of 2018.

A 6 foot, 5 inch forward, Fobbs was selected as a First Team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II All-America.

Fobbs finished an outstanding two-year career at Genesee Community College. He was named the Region III Player of the Year. Fobbs led the region in points per game (26.4) and rebounds per game (12.7).

"He's a big time shooter and scorer who is efficient and productive," Towson head coach Pat Skerry said of Fobbs. "He's also versatile and physical. He is a guy (assistant coach Kevin) Clark identified and we quickly got him to campus. Brian is also an excellent rebounder with a great work ethic. His shooting percentages from the field from three point land and the free throw line were all outstanding this year. On top of that he is great kid and excited to join our program."

In helping Genesee Community College win 19 games and advance to the Region III semifinals, Fobbs shot 57.2 percent from the field and made 71 3-pointers. He scored 30 or more points nine times, including a single-game program record 46-point performance. Fobbs also had 16 games of at least 20 or more points. He ended his two-year with 1,306 points, which is fourth all-time in program history.

Meanwhile, Howard is a 6-1 guard from Lithonia (Ga.), who was an All-Panhandle Conference First Team selection. Howard helped Chipola win 22 games and advance to the NJCAA Region VIII championship game.

"He will come in and provide us with talent and experience at the point position," Skerry said. "He played at two high level programs in Western Kentucky and for coach Brett Campbell's perennial powerhouse at Chipola College this year. He is a gym rat who has speed can shoot the ball and gives us a guard that can make plays off of ball screens and in transition. (Assistant coach Branden) McDonald did a great job tracking him all season long."

Howard averaged 13.4 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game for Chipola College in Marianna (Fla.). Howard scored 20 or more points seven times. His season best was 24 points in a 98-91 win over Northwest Florida State College.

"Both of these student athletes come from good families and are excited about joining our program," Skerry said. "We expect them to immediately influx our program with their talent and experience."

Fobbs and Howard join an incoming class that includes November signees Allen Betrand (Philadelphia, Pa.), Solomon Uyaelunmo (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), and Jakigh Dottin (Cambridge, Mass.).

Towson's 2018-19 men's basketball schedule will be announced at a later date.
