CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Towson University baseball team dropped the series opener to The Citadel, 11-3, Friday afternoon at Joe Riley Park.

- After Towson scored two runs in the top of the seventh to pull within 5-3, the Bulldogs answered back with three runs in the bottom of the inning on a bases-clearing double.
How it Happened
- The Tigers jumped out the early lead in the first inning as Richie Palacios singled up the middle and stole second. Two batters later, Billy Lennox singled to right field to score Palacios.
- The Bulldogs gained the lead in the second inning as they plated four runs.
- CIT added a run in the fourth on a Bryce Leasure RBI single up the middle.
- Towson found its offense again in the seventh as Dirk Masters singled through left side and scored on a Richard Miller triple to the base of the wall in right center.
- Andrew Cassard scored Miller with a bunt single.
- The Bulldogs answered right back in the home-half of the inning with three runs on a bases-clearing double from Ben Peden.
- Three more unearned runs came across for the Bulldogs in the eighth inning.
- Bo Plagge (1-3) took the loss after allowing four runs on six hits over two innings.
- Alex Cuas allowed just one run on four hits over four innings out of the bullpen.
- Dylan Spence (3-3) gave up three runs on six hits to pick up the victory.

- Richie Palacios stole two bases and is now 17-for-17 on the season.
- He also raised his total to 68 in his career and is within one of equaling the mark of 69 set by Shane Justis (2002-05).
- Colin Gimblet reached on a walk to extend his streak of reaching safely to 21 games.
