Baseball Hosts VCU in Midweek Contest

TOWSON, Md. - The Towson University baseball team closes out its four-game home stand, April 3, as the Tigers welcome VCU to Schuerholz Park for a 2 p.m. first pitch.

The forecast is calling for rain showers throughout the afternoon on Tuesday with temperatures around 50 degrees.


Series History
The Tigers and Rams met 41 times prior with VCU holding a 25-16 advantage in the all-time series. The teams have not met since the 2012 season when both were members of the CAA.


vs. the Atlantic 10
Towson has already played five games against the Atlantic 10 this season, going 0-5 in those contests. The Tigers still have games against George Mason and George Washington later in the season.


Sleeping In Your Own Bed
The Towson baseball team has not had an overnight stay in a hotel since leaving Richmond on Feb. 25. The Tigers will not stay in a hotel until they depart for William & Mary on April 5. The stretch of 40 days is the longest in recent history for the program.


Adams Earns CAA Honor
After tossing a complete-game shutout against Hofstra, Michael Adams was named the CAA Co-Pitcher of the Week on April 2.


Adams Dominates Hofstra
Towson senior Michael Adams was dominant against Hofstra as he tossed a complete-game, three-hit shutout in the 1-0 victory. He allowed just five base runners all day with only one reaching second base.


Complete-Game Shutout
The complete-game shutout from Michael Adams against Hofstra was the first for a Tiger pitcher since Kyle Paul blanked Delaware on May 10, 2014.


1-0 Win
The Tigers 1-0 victory over the Hofstra was the first of its kind since Towson defeated Old Dominion on April 17, 2005.


That Was Fast
Sunday's game against Hofstra lasted just two hours and four minutes. It was the fastest game since the Tigers needed just one hour and 57 minutes on May 19, 2016 at Northeastern.


Walk-Off Grand Slam
Shortstop Richie Palacios had a flare for the dramatic against Hofstra as the junior delivered a walk-off grand slam to give the Tigers the 5-3 victory.


Score in 2 Innings
Towson won the series over Hofstra despite scoring in only two of the 27 innings played.  After being shutout in the series opener, Towson did not score until they plated five runs in the ninth inning to win 5-3. They scored the only run of the game in the fourth inning in a 1-0 win on Sunday.


On Deck
The Tigers travel to William & Mary for a three-game CAA series April 6-8. The series opener is set for 6 p.m., with a 4 p.m. first pitch on Saturday and a 1 p.m. start on Sunday.
