Towson Hosts Delaware State On Wednesday

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team hosts Delaware State in a doubleheader Wednesday at 3 p.m. It will be the Tigers final non-conference contests of the 2018 season. The game was moved due to the potential for rain Tuesday.
 
Winners of seven straight games, the Tigers (36-11 overall) enter the game leading the nation in doubles per game (1.96). They are also fourth nationally in scoring (6.81) and batting average (.340). Towson is seventh in on-base percentage (.414) and eighth in slugging percentage (.525). The Tigers winning percentage of .766 is 19th nationally.
 
Brook Miko leads the nation in RBIs per game (1.38). She is second in doubles (21) and RBIs (65). Miko is fourth in doubles per game (0.45), sixth in sacrifice flies (five), ninth in runs per game (1.09), 10th in total bases (117), 13th in batting average (.438), 13th in hits (64), 25th in slugging percentage (.801) and 29th in toughest to strikeout (24.3).
 
Kendyl Scott is second in batting average (.484) and hits (74). She is third in doubles (20), fourth in toughest to strikeout (51.0), fifth in doubles per game (0.44), fifth in total bases (120), 25th in on-base percentage (.521), 28th in slugging percentage (.784), and 37th in runs per game (1.04).
 
Madison Wilson is 19th in doubles (15), 27th in hits (60), and 28th in doubles per game (0.34). Nicole Stockinger is 21st in RBIs (48) and 35th in RBIs per game (1.04). Megan Dejter, who was named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Pitcher of the Week, is 21st in victories (19).

A LOOK AT DELAWARE STATE: The Hornets rallied to beat Howard, 9-5, in nine innings on Sunday. The score was 5-5 in the ninth inning when Micaela Cummings smacked her first home run of the season, a three-run shot to give the Hornets an 8-5 lead. DSU added another run in the ninth on a two-out single by Sia Hornbuckle. The Hornets were led by Sabrina Quarles, who was 3-for-4 with four RBI in the game. Delaware State's top hitters are Desiree Moreno (.391), Khali Flournory (.336) and Kaleigh Berry (.314). Moreno leads Delaware State with seven homers. The Hornets have a staff earned run average of 7.34.

UP NEXT: Towson travels to face the College of Charleston in a weekend series. The teams play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. The Tigers and Cougars conclude the weekend series with a single game on Sunday at 12 p.m.
