Towson Finishes Homestand Against George Mason

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team concludes its seven-game homestand when it hosts George Mason in a doubleheader Wednesday. The first pitch from the Tiger Softball Stadium is at 3 p.m.
 
HOME SWEET HOME: Towson is 12-1 at home this season. The Tigers are 10-0 against non-conference opponents at home. Towson is outscoring opponents, 81-22, at home this season. The Tigers are hitting .343 as a team and have 44 extra base hits. That means that 54.3 percent of Towson's 81 hits have gone for extra bases.
 
THE WEEK THAT WAS: The Tigers went 4-1 to raise their overall record to 24-9. Towson swept Siena 2-1 and 8-0 and took two of three from Delaware. Towson won the opener 7-4 and series finale, 5-3. Megan Dejter was 3-0 with a 1.33 earned run average last week. She also threw three complete games despite getting drilled with line drives in two of her starts. Kendyl Scott (.467), Nicole Stockinger (.438), and Brook Miko (.400) all hit above .400 last week.
 
NATIONALLY SPEAKING: Towson is third nationally in doubles per game (1.85), 12th in batting average (.326), 14th in on-base percentage (.408) and slugging percentage (.505) and 15th in scoring (6.36).
 
GREAT SCOTT: Scott is second in the nation in doubles (16), second in doubles per game (0.52), 21st in batting average (.451) and 38th in hits (47). She leads Towson with 16 multi-hit games. She has at least one hit in 25 of the 31 games she has played this season. Towson is 3-3 in games in which Scott doesn't register at least one hit.
 
MIGHTY MIKO: Miko is fourth nationally in sacrifice flies (five), 11th in runs per game (1.09), 17th in RBIs (39), and 24th in RBIs per game (1.18). She has driven in at least one run in 23 games this season. The five RBIs against Delaware were a season high. Miko is tied for the team lead in home runs with Stockinger. They each have eight homers. Over the weekend, Miko tied Brook Clyde with her 46th career double.
 
WONDERFUL WILSON: Madison Wilson is sixth nationally in doubles (14), 11th in doubles per game (0.42), 42nd in hits (46), and 55th in batting average (.423). With 14 multi-hit games this season, Wilson has reached base in eight straight games for the Tigers.
 
A LOOK AT GEORGE MASON: Members of the Atlantic-10 Conference, the Patriots enter with an 11-18 record after dropping two of three to Saint Louis over the weekend. Even though the Patriots hit .242 as a team, they are led by a quartet of .300 hitters in Jess Curbeira (.359 batting average), Brooke Sullivan (.321), Adriana Erickson (.309), and Liz Seymour (.305). Curbeira leads George Mason with 10 doubles. Sydnee Wells has 15 RBIs to lead the Patriots. Haellie Gordon leads GMU with six wins and Marina Vitalich has a team best 2.37 earned run average.
 
UP NEXT: Towson returns to Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) competition this weekend by visiting Drexel in a three-game series. Towson and Drexel will play a doubleheader at noon on Saturday. The series concludes with a single game on Sunday at 12 p.m.
