TOWSON, Md. – Announced Wednesday afternoon, the Towson University women's lacrosse team was voted No. 10 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Preseason Top 20.
 
The Tigers are coming off a 2018 season with a No. 9 finish in the US Lacrosse Magazine Top 20 final poll, following a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last May. Towson is one of two teams from the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in the poll as defending national champion James Madison was voted sixth.
 
Boston College was voted No. 1, followed by Maryland, North Carolina, Florida and Stony Brook. The Tigers are scheduled to face four teams in the preseason rankings including JMU, Stony Brook, Penn State and Loyola (Md.). Towson will also face Penn in an exhibition game; the Quakers were voted No. 7 in the poll. Georgetown and Johns Hopkins both received votes and are also on the 2019 calendar.
 
The 2019 season gets underway on Saturday, Feb. 9 in University Park, Pennsylvania, as the Tigers face Penn State. Towson will open its home schedule on Friday, March 1 against Stony Brook in Johnny Unitas ® Stadium at 7 p.m.
