Tigers Draw American in NCAA Tournament First Round

TOWSON, Md. -- After securing the program's first berth in the NCAA Tournament since the 2004 season, the Towson University women's volleyball team will play American University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Tigers, winners of the 2019 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Volleyball Championship, earned the league's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Tournament. Towson (28-2) has won its last 22 matches, including a perfect sweep through the CAA regular season and CAA Tournament.

American (24-7) won the Patriot League Championship, besting Army West Point in four sets.

First serve for the opening round at Rec Hall on the campus of Penn State University has been set for 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6. The winner between Towson and American will face the winner between No. 11 Penn State and Princeton. The second round is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, also at Rec Hall.
