TOWSON, Md. – This weekend the Towson University women's basketball team will travel to face Rutgers on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Scouting the Tigers
Towson is coming off a loss to Temple on Wednesday afternoon at home, a 74-59 final.
Kionna Jeter leads the Tigers in scoring with 17.9 points per game and in rebounds with seven per game, while three more players are posting double figures.
Nukiya Mayo is posting 14.4 points per game,
Myasia Jones is averaging 10.6 and
Q. Murray is averaging 10.3.
Scouting the Scarlet Knights
Rutgers is 7-1 coming off a 73-63 win over Virginia on Thursday night in the B1G/ACC Challenge. Leading the Scarlet Knights is Arella Guirantes with 19.4 points per game and Tekia Mack with 16 points on average. Guirantes also leads Rutgers on the glass with 7.6 rebounds per game. This season the Scarlet Knights have lost to only LSU, by six points on the road. Over the Thanksgiving break Rutgers played in and won the Junkanoo Jam in Bimini, Bahamas with wins over Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech.
First Meeting of the Century
Sunday's game will be the first meeting between Towson and Rutgers in women's basketball since 1992, before anyone on the roster was even born. Rutgers leads the series 3-0 and took the '92 win 85-47 at home. This is also the third opponent from the Big Ten that the Tigers will face this year after taking on Penn State in the season opener and Iowa during the Thanksgiving tournament in Puerto Rico.
Towson in CAA Stats
As a team the Tigers are third in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in scoring, averaging 66.8 points per game.
Q. Murray is leading the conference in assists with 5.3 per game.
Kionna Jeter is sixth in the league in points per game (17.9) while
Nukiya Mayo is 10th (13.7). Jeter and Mayo appear again in the rebounding top-10, fifth (7.7) and sixth (7.3) respectively. Mayo is second in the CAA in blocked shots (1.5 per game) and
Tess Borgosz is fifth with 1.5 and
Ryan Holder eighth with 1.0. Towson is the only school with three players in the top-10 for blocked shots. Jeter leads the league in steals (3.0).
Tigers in NCAA Stats
Towson is 46th nationally in blocked shots per game with a team average of 4.5. The Tigers hold 47th in total blocked shots with 36.0 on the season.
Kionna Jeter is in the top-60 of scorers, she is 57th in final points with 143 and is 58th in points per game with 17.9, she is also 10th nationally in field goals made this season with 54. Jeter appears again in the steals per game category, she is 21st with 3.13 per game and 20th in total steals with 25.
Q. Murray is 43rd in the nation in minutes played per game and is 76th in assists per game with 4.6.
Leaving an Impression
Three of Towson's leading scorers are approaching marks to ink their names in the record book for TU women's hoops.
Nukiya Mayo recently scored her 1,000th point, she needs 110 more to take the No. 10 spot in career points.
Kionna Jeter currently has 715 career points she needs 285 more to reach 1,000.
Q. Murray holds 805 career points, she needs 195 to reach the 1,000-point mark.

Tigers in the Community
The Towson University athletics department deems community service as one of its highest priorities to give back to the Greater Baltimore area. For the seventh consecutive year, the department exceeded 10,000 hours of community service to the Greater Baltimore region, finishing with 11,162 hours of community service in the 2018-19 academic season. Towson ranked No. 1 nationally for community service and won the 2018 National Championship for Community Service through the Helper Helper NCAA Team Works Competition. Towson had a 97% participation rate, attended 118 community service opportunities and volunteered with 19 organizations. Towson won the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award from Susan G. Komen of Maryland.
Looking Ahead
The 2020's decade will start strong for Towson as the Tigers host Elon on Friday, Jan. 3 to start conference play and start the year. Towson hosts the Phoenix that Friday and William & Mary on Sunday, Jan. 5, part of a five game home streak that starts on Dec. 21 against Marshall.
