GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Towson University softball team split a pair of games during the final day of the Spartan Classic hosted by UNCG Sunday. After dropping a 5-2 decision to Sacred Heart, the Tigers bounced back to beat host UNCG, 4-2 behind Julia Smith-Harrington's pitching and Kendall Arcia's hitting.
 
Towson has an overall record of 6-6.
 
How It Happened Sacred Heart

• Smith-Harrington reached base in all three trips to the plate.
• She had two hits, including a solo homer to lead off the top the second inning to give Towson a 1-0 lead.
• Smith-Harrington drew a two-out walk that scored Riley Thies in the fifth that helped pull Towson to within, 5-2.
• Thies, Nicole Stockinger and Nicole Kidwiler also had hits for the Tigers.
• Sacred Heart scored five runs in the second inning.
• Ashley Cruise and Breanna McDowell combined to strike out five Pioneers.

• Smith-Harrington struck out nine batters.
• She had 20 strikeouts and a 0.58 earned run average in her two appearances in the tournament.
• Smith-Harrington pitched two complete games this weekend.
• Smith-Harrington hit a solo home run in the third inning to stretch the Tigers lead to 4-1.
• Kendall Arcia hit a three-run homer in the top of the first inning to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead.
• Arcia's two hits led the Tigers.
