PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Towson University gymnastics team rode
Emerson Hurst's 9.925 on the balance beam as the Tigers got third in the quad-meet at Rutgers University.
Towson finished with a team score of 192.800. Tournament host Rutgers took first at 194.425, edging out Bridgeport's 194.125. Towson scored higher than Centenary, which concluded at 192.000.
Hurst;s performance on beam tied for the top score on any event.
Ally Wesoly finished fourth in the all-around, taking top-four in the meet in the uneven bars and the vault.
Cortni Baker and
Mary Elle Arduino tied for fifth overall in the floor exercise.
How It Happened
- Towson's top event of the day came on the floor exercise, with four student-athletes earning at least a 9.7 to total a team score of 48.675. Mary Elle Arduino and Cortni Baker each notched a 9.800 to lead the Tigers. Melissa Temkov had a 9.725 while Ally Wesoly got a 9.700.
- In the uneven bars, the two Tigers came just .025 away from their season-high: Wesoly notched a Towson-best 9.825 while Tess Zientek got a 9.775. Brittney Ranti earned her season-high with a 9.700, helping the team score of 48.600.
- Leading Towson in the vault was Wesoly at 9.775, followed by Baker getting a 9.725.
- Emerson Hurst had a stellar performance on the balance beam with a career-high score of 9.925. That was the top score of the meet on beam, .015 better than any other athlete.
