TOWSON, Md. – Towson University will host a non-conference double header against Villanova on Wednesday, April 17 inside Tiger Softball Stadium.
The first game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. This will be the seventh and eighth matchups against Villanova who leads the series 4-2. Towson won the last matchup against the Wildcats 11-9 back in 2016.
Towson (20-21, 4-8 CAA) is coming off a conference series with Charleston this past weekend. The Tigers fell to the Cougars on Sunday 7-4.
Julia Smith-Harrington hit her fifth home run of the season and
Sara Johnson pitched three innings and had four strikeouts.
Leading the Tigers is senior
Nicole Stockinger who has started 37 games and is hitting .373 with 12 home runs. She leads the team with 41 hits and 36 RBIs. Smith-Harrington leads the teams in doubles (15) and also is impressive in the circle with a 6-3 record and a 2.20 ERA.
Chloe Poulich is second on the team in doubles (11).
Also, on the mound for the Tigers,
Sara Johnson is leading the way with a 9-7 record 110 strikeouts.
Melissa Abrahamian has a 3.50 ERA and 34 strikeouts.
Scouting Villanova (20-19, 4-5 Big East)
The Wildcats played a weekend series against Creighton winning one of three games. Paige Rauch is leading the way at the plate and mound and is hitting .391 on the season. She leads the team in home runs (11) and RBIs (31). Caroline Jones leads the team in doubles (8) and is tied with two other teammates in RBIs (19).
Sara Kennedy has a 3.13 ERA and a 5-2 overall record.
