Canto Named CAA Co-Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- After a strong performance in goal Saturday afternoon, Towson University men's lacrosse netminder Tyler Canto was selected as the CAA Co-Player of the Week. The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) made the announcement late Monday morning.

Canto, who won his first CAA weekly honor, was selected as the Co-Player of the Week with Sean Sconone, the goalkeeper for the University of Massachusetts. Fairfield University's Patrick Drake was named Rookie of the Week.

The Tiger made 17 Saves in No. 13 Towson's 11-9 win at Drexel to secure the number two seed in the upcoming CAA Tournament. The 6-foot, 6-inch backstop made a dozen saves in the second half while allowing just two goals across the final 30 minutes. Canto finished with a 65.4 save percentage, including 85.7 in the second half.

With the win, Towson secured the number two seed in the upcoming CAA Championship Tournament. The Tigers will take on third-seeded Delaware Thursday, May 2 with a 7:35 p.m. opening faceoff. UMass will host the CAA Semifinals and CAA Championship at Garber Field.
