TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University football team has welcomed in three new assistant coaches for the 2019 season, announced by head coach
Rob Ambrose.
Eric Daniels,
Nate Brown and

"After almost a decade of high-level staff continuity, we have made a few internal and external changes on both sides of the ball that we feel can help propel us forward," said Ambrose, coming into his 10
th season at the helm of the Tigers. "Every one of these staff members contributed to our success this spring and provides an internal level of excitement as we move into the recruiting/pre-season portion of our calendar."
Daniels will be the Towson defensive coordinator and will work with the inside linebackers. He comes to Towson after one season at Briar Cliff University in Iowa, where his 2018 defense improved with 28 points allowed a game fewer than the previous season. He was also formerly the defensive coordinator and assistant head coach at Oklahoma Panhandle State from 2016-17, where his defense was ranked 6
th in the nation and top-15 in 10 different categories including both pass and rush defense. He spent five seasons at Southern Methodist University, setting a school record of four bowl games in a row. Daniels played at Baylor University before graduating from Hardin Simmons in 2007 and has a Master's Degree from Angelo State in 2009.
Brown will serve as the cornerbacks coach, arriving in Towson from North Texas. He spent the last three years with the Mean Green, where the team finished fifth in Division I with 18 interceptions in 2018, helping the team to a 9-4 record and a berth in the New Mexico Bowl. He has also had stops with his alma mater, Louisiana-Monroe, Grambling State and Millsaps College. Brown earned a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree from Louisiana-Monroe in 2010 and 2012 respectively.
Lang returns to Towson and is slated to be the tight ends/fullbacks coach. He returns to campus after two stints at Missouri, where he was the tight end graduate assistant, also assisting with recruiting, as well as a stop at Florida International as an offensive line graduate assistant. He was previously with Towson under Ambrose from 2014 to 2016 as an offensive quality control coach. Lang graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 2013.
In addition, some returning coaches have had roles change.
Lyndon Johnson will be the special teams coordinator and work with safeties,
Scott Van Zile will be the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator plus
Tyree Foreman will work with the running backs.
The three new coaches take over for Jared Ambrose, Joe Tricario and Scott Lakatos, who all left Towson after the 2018 season.
