Towson, Md. – The 2019-20 season officially gets underway as the Towson University women's soccer team opens on Thursday, Aug. 22 versus Old Dominion. On Sunday the Tigers host the Red Foxes of Marist College.
As the season begins for the Tigers, the Monarchs of ODU and the Red Foxes will be the first two teams to play on the updated complex.
The ODU game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday and then the Tigers host Marist on Sunday, Aug. 25 for a 3 p.m. match.
Fans are able to park in lot 19.

Returners
Towson has 17 student-athletes from last season returning, including captains
Nikki Logan,
Lexi Littlefield and
Justine Stoner.
Justine Stoner was recognized by the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) by being named to the 2018 Third Team All-CAA. Additionally, four more seniors Christina Davey,
Sydney Davis,
Monica Scaglione and
Moriah Wigley return this season.
The junior and sophomore classes mix with the seniors help bring back the experience for the Tigers to have a strong season. Included in the sophomore class is
Jenna Blank, who was on the 2018 CAA All-Rookie Team.

The Tigers have 13 newcomers joining the squad this season with three transfers in
Alexandria Adams (Harford CC),
Riley Rumbley (Charleston Southern) and
Briana Stabile (Harford CC) as well as 11 freshmen. The freshmen class includes

With a Win Thursday
Towson would collect its first season-opening win since a 2-0 victory over Loyola to kick off the 2011 season. Last year the Tigers tied Longwood 1-1 in double overtime.
Fun Facts
- The Tigers' all-time record on opening day is 9-13-5 since the program first game on Sept. 9, 1992.
- The last two season openers have ended in a 1-1 tie (UMBC-2017 Longwood-2018).
- Towson's three-match winning streak from Sept. 6-12, 2018, was the program's first since winning six-straight early in the 2015 season.
Tigers in the Community
- The Towson University athletics department deems community service as one of its highest priorities to give back to the Greater Baltimore area.
- For the 7th consecutive year, the department exceeded 10,000 hours of community service to the Greater Baltimore region, finishing with 11,162 hours of community service in the 2018-19 academic season.
- Towson ranked #1 nationally for community service and won the 2018 National Championship for Community Service through the Helper Helper NCAA Team Works Competition.
- Towson had a 97% participation rate, attended 118 community service opportunities and volunteered with 19 organizations.
- Towson won the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award from Susan G. Komen of Maryland.
