RICHMOND, Va. – Freshman
Demi Pierre of the Towson University women's soccer team was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week, announced Monday morning.
On Thursday, Pierre scored both goals in Towson's 2-0 win over Mount St. Mary's, leading the Tigers to their first win of the season.
Pierre, who hails from Gävle, Sweden scored her first colligate goal in the first half of the game to give Towson an early 1-0 lead. She then notched the game-winning goal in the 85th minute mark of the game. The freshman was also part of a Towson attack that put eight shots on goal in the match.
In addition to Pierre, Hofstra's Lucy Porter was selected as the CAA player of the week, while Drexel's Kylie Kutz was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Towson is back in action this afternoon at Penn with a 3 p.m. kickoff.
