TOWSON, Md. – This weekend the first wing of conference play comes to a close for the Towson University women's basketball team. The Tigers will travel to Drexel on Friday and Delaware on Sunday.

Kionna Jeter and another 21 for
Nukiya Mayo, the Tigers defeated the pride 84-71 after trailing by six at the half.
Scouting the Tigers
Following the victorious weekend Towson enters the week 10-8 overall with a 5-2 mark in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play, holding third place.
Kionna Jeter continues to lead the Tigers with 18.9 points per game while
Nukiya Mayo is posting 16.4 and
Q. Murray averages 10.8. Mayo leads Towson on the glass with 7.7 rebounds a night and Murray leads in assists with 5.1 per game. The Tigers are second in the league in scoring, averaging 70.2 points per game and second in rebounding offense with 39.4 boards on average.
Scouting the Dragons
Drexel and James Madison are tied for first place in the CAA, the Dragons are 13-6 overall and 6-1 in conference play. Towson and Drexel are both on a six-game win streak currently, the Dragons defeated William & Mary on the road on Sunday. Reigning 2019 CAA Player of the Year Baily Greenberg leads Drexel offensively with 18.9 points per game, the solo double-figure scorer on the roster. She also leads the team in rebounds with 5.6 on average while Aubree Brown leads in assists with 4.9 a night. Drexel's single loss in conference play came to Charleston on the road.
The Drexel Series
A longtime series continues this weekend in the 79
th meeting between Towson and Drexel. The teams last faced each other in the 2019 CAA Championship game at the Bob Carpenter Center on March 16, 2019. The Dragons lead the series 57-21 and have won 30 meetings in Philadelphia. Last season the Tigers took two wins in the three meetings of the 2019 year, one at the DAC and one in March for the ring. Last January Towson defeated Drexel on its home court on a buzzer beater from
Nukiya Mayo.
Scouting the Blue Hens
Delaware has seen a slow start to the year with a 6-12 overall record and 2-5 in CAA action. Before Sunday's matchup, the Blue Hens will host James Madison on Friday night. Delaware is led by Nicole Enabosi with 16.4 points per game and Jasmine Dickey with 12.3. Dickey also leads the Blue Hens in rebounds with 8.6 a night. Abby Gonzales paces the offense with 3.4 assists per game. Delaware's two conference wins are over Hofstra and Elon, the team is coming off a split weekend on the road at William & Mary and Elon.
The Delaware Series
The University of Delaware is Towson's closest conference opponent in terms of distance, these teams will meet for the 79th time on Sunday. The Blue Hens lead the series 56-23 and have won eight of the last 10 meetings dating back to the 2014-15 season. In March the Tigers stole a CAA Quarterfinal game against Delaware on its home court, a 59-49 victory, in the last matchup between these teams. Last season Towson won two of the three games against the Blue Hens, both at the Bob Carpenter Center.
Nukiya Mayo Named CAA Player of the Week, Jan. 27
Mayo helped push the Towson University women's basketball team to its fifth and sixth straight wins, capitalizing on her fifth consecutive double-double on Friday night. Mayo dropped 21 points in both Friday and Sunday's games and grabbed 17 boards on the weekend, 10 on Friday. The senior recorded her 1,178th point on Friday putting her ninth in the Towson all-time leading scorer's top-10. Mayo also dished out six assists, had three steals and a block between the two games.

Jeter is currently second in the CAA in scoring (18.9 ppg) while
Nukiya Mayo holds sixth (16.4). The scoring tandem also appear in the rebounding top-10, Mayo fifth (7.7 rpg) and Jeter eighth (6.6 rpg).
Q. Murray leads the conference in assists (5.1 per game) and is first in assist/turnover ratio (2.1). Mayo is ranked for a third time in blocked shots, she is fourth in the CAA (1.4 bpg) and

Last season
Kionna Jeter reached a peak in the top-10 of scorers nationally. Her highest position this season, the redshirt junior is 29th in points per game (18.9) as of Jan. 28. She is also 17th in steals per game (3.0 avg.), 20th in steals (54) and 18th in field goal attempts (318).

Tigers In The Community
The Towson University athletics department deems community service as one of its highest priorities to give back to the Greater Baltimore area. For the seventh consecutive year, the department exceeded 10,000 hours of community service to the Greater Baltimore region, finishing with 11,162 hours of community service in the 2018-19 academic season. Towson ranked No. 1 nationally for community service and won the 2018 National Championship for Community Service through the Helper Helper NCAA Team Works Competition. Towson had a 97% participation rate, attended 118 community service opportunities and volunteered with 19 organizations. Towson won the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award from Susan G. Komen of Maryland.
