RICHMOND, Va. – Today, the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) released the upcoming conference schedule for women's basketball. The schedules will include 18 games, but the format has been adjusted.
In lieu of the traditional home-and-home round robin schedule, teams will face the same opponent at the same site on consecutive days, primarily Saturdays and Sundays. The weekend against each team's travel partner will be the only exception; each team will play once at home and once on the road that week.
The CAA has set Friday, Jan. 1 as the start date of conference action with the regular season wrapping on Sunday, Feb. 28. The conference will give flexibility to make up any games impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Towson women's basketball will open the season on Friday, Jan. 1 with a road trip to James Madison before hosting the Dukes on Sunday, Jan. 3. There will be four full home weekends in total, not including the JMU series.
The Tigers will host Elon, Hofstra, Charleston and Drexel. Road weekends include UNCW, William & Mary, Northeastern and Delaware.
